The challenge

Turning a hands-on quoting process into an e-commerce store with configurators

Danesi Leone is an artisan company that has been operating in Serravalle Pistoiese since 1979, specializing in making, installing and repairing PVC tarps, truck tarps, tarps with windows and sun awnings. It has more than forty-five years of experience and a mixed B2B and B2C clientele used to dealing with the company directly: a quote starts with a phone call, a visit to the workshop or an on-site inspection. Everything is custom, because every tarp and every awning comes in different sizes, materials, accessories and colors.

Translating this complexity into an e-commerce store was the main challenge. It needed two separate configurators, one for custom awnings and one for truck tarps, able to guide customers through sizes, materials, colors and accessories all the way to an instant quote. It also needed a product catalog organized by category that could sit alongside the two configurators without confusing users, with a smooth shopping experience even for people who had never bought a made-to-measure product online.

We built an e-commerce store around two cores: the product catalog, organized by category (PVC tarps, tarps with windows, sun awnings), and the two configurators, custom-developed for the company’s specific needs. The custom awning configurator lets users select sizes, materials, colors and accessories to get an instant quote, while the custom truck tarp configurator applies the same logic, adapted to the trucking industry.

The interface balances Danesi Leone’s artisan tradition with a modern experience: clean design, copy that guides users step by step, and full online order management (user account, order tracking, customer support area). The goal is to make a purchase that traditionally relied on manual quotes feel intuitive, without losing the craftsmanship that goes into every tarp the company makes.
